Why download the file?
  • Its free
  • Searchable content - You can for the first time trace members of your family who owned or had a connection to a mill.

How to search the database?

Once the file has downloaded,
  1. Open the file.  The file is a pdf type file which is a common program on most computers, laptops and smartphones.
  2. At over 700 pages long it would be tiresome to look through it all, however with the pdf you can search for information you want.
  3. Right click anywhere in the document.
  4. A list will appear with different options, we want to click on find
  5. Once you click find a small search bar will appear
  6. Type in any word, letter or phrase you want and hit search, it will find what you are looking for.

The Agricultural Statistics of Ireland 1865-1874

Whats it about?     -   The agricultural statistics showed the productivity of the land, types of crops and acreage in Ireland. It also mentioned the number of scutch mills in Ireland showing their townland and also how many weeks they operated. The individual years have been merged into one file for ease and quick accessibility. No more skimming through endless text. This can be made available through the "Contact" Tab on the top of the page. Send me an email and i'll send it.
